The Office of the President sent the following email message to parents and families of the Class of 2023 on March 21, 2023:


Dear Lafayette Parents & Families,

On behalf of the trustees, faculty, and staff of Lafayette College, we look forward to welcoming you to campus in May to celebrate the accomplishments of our amazing students in the Class of 2023 at Lafayette’s 188th Commencement. This is sure to be a special weekend for our graduates and their families and we look forward to celebrating this milestone together. Below is the anticipated schedule of Commencement activities:

Friday, May 19, 2023
1:00-3:00 p.m. CEREMONY for Honors Thesis Students and their Parents and Families.
Additional information will be shared directly through your student. A reception will follow at 3pm on O’Neill Plaza.
Location: Colton Chapel

4:00 – 5:00 p.m. BACCALAUREATE SERVICE 
A light reception will be held prior to the service at 3pm on O’Neill Plaza.
Location: Colton Chapel
This interfaith celebration is designed to honor Lafayette’s graduating senior class. No tickets are required for Baccalaureate. 

5:30 – 8:30 p.m. GRADUATION CEREMONY for Posse Scholars
Additional information will be shared directly through your student.
Location: Wilson Room, Pfenning Hall

Saturday, May 20, 2023
10:45 a.m. THE ACADEMIC PROCESSION

11:00 a.m. COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES 
Location: “The Quad”
(No tickets required if the ceremony is held outdoors.) 

Because the ceremony is planned to be held outdoors on Lafayette’s Quad, no tickets are required, however, outdoor seating is first come, first served. If inclement weather forces the ceremony indoors, tickets will be needed for admission to the Kirby Sports Center. Three (3) electronic tickets for family and friends will be available for each graduate, beginning Monday, April 3. Instructions for ticketing will be shared with students via email. Graduates do not need a ticket. 

A limited number of additional tickets will become available via a registration link that will be posted on the Commencement website on Monday, May 1, at noon. Additional tickets must be picked up at the ticket office in Kirby Sports Center before Wednesday, May 17. Any tickets not picked up will be released. Admission to the Kirby Sports Center Arena by ticket will begin at 10 a.m.

PLEASE NOTE: Rain or shine, a live broadcast of the Commencement ceremony will be streamed into Colton Chapel – no tickets required. The Commencement ceremony will also be broadcast live via livestream and on ATVN in the Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Chicago. 

2:00 p.m. PRESIDENT’S RECEPTION for Graduates and their guests
(Please note that start time for the reception is tentative pending the end of the ceremony.)
Location: Bergethon Room, Marquis Hall

If there is a change in the location of the Commencement celebration due to inclement weather, that information will be available in a recorded message on the Lafayette Weather Information Hotline (610) 330-5809 as soon as it is known. This information will also be posted on the Lafayette College homepage.
