Dear Members of the Class of 2020,
The last two years have been incredibly difficult—especially for your class, which had to sacrifice milestone academic experiences like an in-person Commencement celebration. As a class, you showed patience and understanding as we shifted traditions in 2020 to virtual to ensure everyone’s health and safety. However, you are incredibly important members of the Lafayette family, and it is time to honor you for all of your accomplishments in the way that you deserve.
The success you have achieved in an unprecedented and challenging time is truly inspirational. In honor of this, we want to bring the members of this class together in community to celebrate. The College will host an in-person commencement celebration for you and your family and friends on Sunday, May 22, 2022, to commemorate your academic accomplishments. While your degrees were conferred in 2020, the May 2022 program will provide the opportunity for you to be acknowledged as Lafayette graduates, to honor the support you have received from family and friends, and to experience the much-anticipated tradition of walking across the stage.
Further details of the day will follow, but I ask that you, your family members, and special guests hold this date. Following the ceremony, we will host a luncheon reception for all members of the class and their guests. Later this fall you will receive more information along with a survey asking you to indicate your interest in returning to campus to celebrate your commencement.
Thank you for your patience and perseverance as we continue to navigate these ever- changing times together. I look forward to welcoming you back to campus and personally congratulating you for all of your accomplishments this May. If you have any questions in the coming weeks, please feel free to reach out to Kim Spang, our vice president for college relations, at 610-330-5892 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
To great things ahead!
With gratitude and best wishes,
Nicole Farmer Hurd
